Lucas King Brings Rock-Born Energy to Electronic Music on “Vulpes”

Hailing from Edenhope, a small town in Western Victoria, Australia, Lucas King is an electronic artist whose creative path has been shaped by a lifelong connection to music. Beginning on drums at just 12 years old before learning guitar, King spent his early years playing in bands from grade nine onwards and developing a passion for songwriting.

While those early band projects never grew into anything substantial, they laid the foundation for his independent approach to production. Living in a small town made finding fellow musicians difficult, prompting King to begin recording his own material and playing every instrument himself. His process later evolved from dawless setups into full DAW-based production.

King’s background in heavier rock still finds its way into his electronic work, adding an edge to his dance-focused sound. Drawn to slower, more immersive tempos between 90 and 125 BPM, he is also willing to step outside genre expectations whenever an idea feels emotionally powerful.

“Vulpes” arrives from one of King’s bursts of inspiration, periods where he creates multiple tracks rapidly before stepping away from music entirely. Preferring to work quickly rather than overanalyse every detail, King captures the raw energy of the moment—prioritising feeling, experimentation and instinct over perfection.
